Just for a moment, think about the last car, TV, pair of shoes or even can of soda that you purchased. What did you consider before making your choice? Whatever the reason, odds are that you chose a product whose brand fit with who you are, your goals and your lifestyle.
In today’s global economy, cities of every size are competing for business, tourism, education, and tax dollars. By developing a brand presence, a city has the opportunity to set itself apart by promoting the characteristics that make it unique.
Consider the city of Las Vegas, for example. Ten years ago, they tried to promote the idea that they were a family vacation destination. Tourism and revenues plummeted. Then, through a branding process, the city embraced its history and its fun-loving reputation. “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” was born, and business has boomed.
Billings has a rich history and the opportunity for a promising future. Nestled in the middle of some of nature’s beautiful vistas, we have a powerful business community, a strong housing market and a wide variety of recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities.
In order to ensure sustained, controlled and long-term growth, we need to set ourselves apart from other Montana cities and from cities around the globe. The Billings brand will incorporate our strengths, character and personality and show the world who we are today and what makes us special. It will attract new industries, draw visitors, enhance our city’s well-being and improve our bottom line.
